Pear and Blackberry Crumble

With the autumn harvest comes an abundance of new delicious fruit and veg, so don't let any of it get to waste! Here we wanted to showcase two lesser highlighted fruits that deserved some glory of their own, so here's a delicious recipe you can cook up for 4 people incorporating them into a crumble! Of course if you're making this during other times of the year or have other fruits available, things like apples and plums or any kind of soft berry really will work, so experiment and mix!

Ingredients:

  • 9 pears

  • 200g blackberries

  • 140g oats

  • 100g butter/margarine

  • 40g muscavado/golden caster sugar

  • Half a lemon juice

  • 1tsp cinnamon

Recipe:

  1. Halve and core pears, sprinkle with lemon juice and place in oven to bake for 10 mins

  2. Add blackberries evenly to the dish and leave for a further 5 mins in the oven

  3. Make the crumble topping: mix oats and sugar whilst melting the butter, before adding it to the mixture and stir until oats are completely covered

  4. Remove dish from oven, cover fruit with crumble topping and sprinkle cinnamon over the top

  5. Bake for another 15-20 minutes

  6. Eat fresh from the oven or leave to cool, then pair with a dollop or two of ice cream in the warmer summer months!
